Elin Brimheim Heinesen, founder of HEINESEN.info, was born 25. June in 1958 in Tórshavn, the Faroe Islands. She went to Denmark to study in 1983 and stayed in the country until she moved back to the Faroes in 2007, most of the time living and working in Copenhagen.
Elin has wide-ranging experience in the fields of internet, marketing, media and culture and has worked in communication and marketing for many years as head of media and marketing, journalist and editor in chief in on-line and printed media.
The last 5 years before she moved to the Faroe Islands, she was the Managing Editor of KIWI magazine, a Danish women’s and consumer’s magazine, which she also helped launch (the magazine is now renamed to LIME magazine) (reference in Danish). Elin has held several positions before that – among others she has been Managing Editor at the Danish Committee for Health Education (reference in Danish), Editor and Founder of the web magazine www.kvindekanalen.dk (shut down in 2001, when the IT bubble burst) (reference 1, reference 2 in Danish), as well as the Marketing Coordinator of Copenhagen City of Culture 1996 (reference in Danish).
In 2007 she went to the Faroe Islands to take the job as the Managing Director of SamVit – Faroe Islands Enterprise, the Faroese Trade and Tourism Council, which was closed as an institution of its own in 2009 and merged with the Faroese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Shortly after SamVit ceased to exist, Elin became Head of the Media and Development Department at Kringvarp Føroya – the Faroe Islands National Broadcasting Company, where her main task was to be the project leader of the team responsible for preparing and launching the company’s new, much improved news website, which also serves as an online archive containing programs produced by Kringvarp Føroya: www.kringvarp.fo
In February 2012 she decided to take a new turn and establish herself as a freelance consultant. In 2015 she took the job as Manager of the Student Service Centre at Fróðskaparsetur Føroya, University of the Faroe Islands. And in 2018 she became Manager of the Audio Books Service at Landsbókasavnið, the National Library of the Faroe Islands.
Elin holds a university degree (Cand.mag.) in Aesthetics and Culture from The University of Aarhus, Denmark, and Nordic Languages and Literature from the Academia Feroensis in Tórshavn, the Faroe Islands. She also has an education in Business Economics from Copenhagen Business School as well as being an educated screenwriter from Den Danske Filmskole (the National Film School of Denmark).
